The Cretan Music Festival was founded in 2014 by Maria Manousaki and is now celebrating its 8th year. It will take place across the beautiful island of Crete with 3 main stages and various performances, art exhibitions, panel discussions, seminars, and workshops for all ages including children.

The festival brings worldwide renowned musicians together, who perform different genres of music and local traditional folk musicians, introducing a unique flavor to the island, attracting over 30 participants yearly, and featuring music from Crete and around the world.

A key purpose of the festival is to position Crete and its music as one of the important strands in the world music scene.
The Festival is held in the stunning city of Chania on the island of Crete.

With the inspirational input of truly great, internationally recognized groups, the aim is to present authentic collaborations with a common theme in mystical Crete.

The Cretan World Music Festival is far-reaching and includes: Awareness of the cultural elements and tourism the exchange of creativity and diverse cultures which act as an attraction to musicians of status.

This festival is a musical experience the audience will not want to miss, creating lasting wonderful memories for everyone taking place.Performers taking part in this festival travel from around the globe.We choose the locations carefully making sure they have something specifically unique and breathtaking.

With stages around Chania’s area such as, the ancient Venetian Port, which dates back to the 1300s, the idyllic villages of Vamos and Gavalochori, the stone theater at Nopigeia and so many more, this festival is not just unique to Crete - Greece – but actually globally.

The bands performing are all highly exclaimed international musicians some hold Grammy awards.
